Honestly, I had run out of options.

It was either go back to a relaxer or loc my hair.

I went natural in 2009. Not intentionally.

Why I: Take Breaks from Social Media

I remember my first social media experience.

It was August 1999 and I was a freshman at North Carolina State University. I had a pretty, white desktop computer that was hooked up to the fastest ethernet the largest public university in the state could provide. The screen was wide, the fonts were big and I was thrilled to now be connected to the internet full-time. Well, while I was in my dorm room.

When I finally received the notification that my connection was active, my first order of business was not to check my schedule, locate some building on campus or check out the bus schedule. Before I could do any of that I had to get the most important tool set up that I would need for the next four years: AOL Instant Messenger.

New Year, Same You…

It is that time of the year again.

You know what time of the year I am referring to cause you have seen them all up and down your timeline for the last two weeks.

Time for all the ‘New Year, New Me’ posts. Or the things I’m doing different in the new year posts.

But check it.

A lot of these posts are from the same people that posted the same thing before 2015, 16 and 17 rolled up in here.

Now first, let me just say I am not knocking anyone who has a desire to make certain changes in their life. The first step is admitting you need to make those changes. However, I think a lot of people miss a very important step which almost ensures they will be in the same position at the end of the year that they were in the beginning.

They did not change their MINDSET.

Listen. THIS. IS. THE. KEY.

My ‘Untitled’ Peyton Manning Piece

Hmmmm, where do I start?

Do I start with naming the countless records he holds? Or do I start with by highlighting his career with the Indianapolis Colts then proceed to his career with the Denver Broncos? Or do I start with the way he revolutionized the game of football?

Or do I just start with what today means to me?

I think that is a good place to start.  Continue reading “My ‘Untitled’ Peyton Manning Piece”

Who you pulling for Kassie Nette?

I have never been so conflicted over a Super Bowl.

I have always drawn the line when it comes to who I am rooting for in the big game. If my teams are not in it or one of my favorite players are not playing, my rooting interest usually hinges on my dislike for another team, player, coach, fan base, etc or my like for another organization, player, coach, fan base, etc.

But this is different. This is my second favorite team vs the team lead by my favorite player. This is the team I have been a fan of since October 26, 1993 vs the player I have been a fan of since his days at Tennessee; a fanatic since roughly 2004. This is the team who I want to see finally get that championship that has alluded them for 21 years vs the player whom I want to see win another championship more than anyone else.

So what’s a lady to do? Who do I roll with? Or do I roll with anyone? Continue reading “Who you pulling for Kassie Nette?”

ESPN…you messed up…fix it, please!

Update: As of this afternoon, ESPN has acknowledged the mistake and is working to inform all powers that be on their shows and various platforms that Andre is the person in the video. Thank you for making the correction, ESPN!

Last night, I was happily settled into my Monday night routine. I was comfortable in my onesie, the tv was on ESPN Monday Night Countdown and I was chatting with my mother about the day’s events. We were bother eagerly awaiting our favorite segment, C’mon Man!
